The story of the disciples on the Emmaus Road is important for many reasons. It is simply that at this time Cleopas and Mary were among the very few of Christs disciples who knew of the Crucifixion and who were therefore ready to learn about the Resurrection. I believe that the road to Emmaus is a road that must be walked, in one sense, by everyone who would become a better Christian. And it is in that light that I would like us to study it.

The two disciples on the road to Emmaus being visited by the Lord Jesus has been described as a wonderful, unique, spellbinding history.

The Stray A young father takes his nine year old son, the family dog, and two of his son's friends backpacking in the mountains of Colorado only for all five of them to be struck by lightning. It ended in joy, excitement, love, and true devotion. Or Luke, if he were the one being spoken of here as Cleopas companion. These two people on the road to Emmaus werent enemies and yet they didnt know who this stranger was. For example this method can be used for your website navigation.
Now someone will no doubt be asking why this should have been so. Just prior to this encounter, Jesus appears to Mary of Magdala in John. Also its suggested that their heads were so lowered in grief that their eyes were glued to the ground and they never gave this man more than a glance. The disciples tell him of their shattered hopes and dreams for Jesus, the prophet, who through his great and mighty works and preaching would redeem Israel. It might seem like a daunting task, especially if you go in without a lot of knowledge, but dressing right isnt rocket science.
